Gaiya Nasamu Julius is a seasoned Communications, Advocacy, Development and Human Security Professional based in Nigeria. With a Master of Arts in Conflict, Peace, and Strategic Studies, and extensive experience in program management and training delivery, Gaiya has dedicated his career to enhancing the advocacy capacity of communities and civil society organizations (CSOs) across Nigeria.
Throughout his tenure at the Center for Civilians in Conflict, Gaiya has led impactful initiatives aimed at empowering communities and CSOs to effectively advocate for their rights and protection. He has successfully designed and delivered comprehensive training programs that equip these organizations with the necessary skills to navigate complex security and political environments and advocate for civilian protection.
Gaiya's expertise extends to high-level advocacy, where he has effectively engaged with military hierarchies and senior government officials. His efforts have resulted in significant advancements in the understanding and implementation of Protection of Civilians (POC) principles within military training institutions. By fostering collaborative relationships and facilitating discussions among stakeholders, Gaiya has played a pivotal role in advocating for policies that prioritize development, human rights, and mitigate civilian harm.
